We always like to send a team e-mail around mid-way through the trip, and following are some comments from our team members:
Hello to everyone. What an amazing time we are having. Weather is warm, but not unbearably warm like last time. All is well! Here are a few words from everyone:
DOLORES -- Having a great time with the children. More children are coming everyday. Tomorrow I do hygiene talk which is much needed. Children loved the trail mix.
GARY -- I have been working with the children ages 9-11. They have been having a good time. The puppets have been a success. There are anywhere between 60-90 children at each place.
MIKE -- We have found the really needy less than 3 kilometers from the church. Bad roads, no windows, doors, power, electricity, etc.
CHERYL -- Having a lot of fun learning songs in Spanish. The children really love to sing!
KAREN -- Learned to help Gary with a puppet show! The children enthusiastically color, sing, play games, and hug.
NANCY -- I always judge the kids' economic status by the shoes they wear. There are a lot of shoeless kids at our afternoon location. The needs are really great, and just things such as stickers and coloring brings smiles to their faces...Also two chickens ran through the area where we were having the session, which was pretty funny!
