SOME OF THE BEST THINGS ABOUT GUATEMALA VBS

There are so many GREAT things about doing Guatemala VBS that it would be hard to list them all. But here are a few cool things:
--Simple things such as coloring and stickers bring great joy to both the boys and the girls.
--The daily snacks are a huge blessing. Cantalope, watermelon, pineapple, trail mix -- who would have thought they could bring such happiness?!
--Our Guatemalan co-teachers are enthusiastic and willing to try just about anything.
--Pastor Jasinto and his wife Nancy are great at motivating the kids.
--We have a lot of freedom in the classroom.
--There is a total absence of a sense of entitlement among the kids.
--The lunches we eat under the shade trees (at Pastor's house) after the morning session are always delicious and are a welcome break from the heat.
--Teaching in the classrooms in the school that Trinity Roselle helped to build is just fantastic, especially for those of us who have been in on the project from "square one".

Although we thought that the November '09 VBS was going to be our last VBS, we have since found out that we will be doing another one in November 2010. Praise God! Since we are starting Eyeglass Clinics in June, we thought that we would not be doing the VBS, since we didn't want to have too much "competing" with recruiting Eyeglass Clinic people. Pastor Jasinto has welcomed the idea of a 2010 VBS, and we are really looking forward to it.
